Comparing shipping coverage with publisher audience locations

Compare an overseas publisher's recent audience locations with product-level delivery coverage before agreeing an affiliate placement.

Compare locations in a publisher’s recent audience report with overseas destinations where your Australian store can accept and fulfil orders for the promoted product. A publisher’s business address or a store’s country-wide shipping setting does not establish that intended readers can receive a particular item; use the most useful audience-location detail available.

Ask for audience evidence

Request the proposed property or channel, placement, reporting period, measure and audience-country breakdown. If the offer has regional limits, ask whether a reliable regional view is available.

Distinguish recent visitors or recipients from followers, and traffic to the proposed property from a publisher’s total network audience. Mark an undefined figure as unknown.

Ask how locations were collected, and request a report that identifies its geography measure and period. Treat reported geography as planning evidence, not delivery addresses or validation of the publisher’s report.

Define orderability for the item

For each promoted product or variant, record the locations where the store accepts an order, the applicable delivery service, charges and supportable timing. For Australian orders shipped overseas, check Australia Post’s International delivery times and destination guide for destinations currently accepting deliveries, and its International Post Guide for destination rules, post charges, and size and weight guidelines.

A carrier’s guide does not grant import permission; check destination requirements separately. Australia Post’s United Kingdom guide lists import prohibitions, including aerosols, batteries and alcoholic beverages and liquids containing more than 24% alcohol by volume.

Inspect the intended checkout and fulfilment settings. A country may appear in a menu although the promised service does not cover a particular product, weight, postcode or address type.

Published delivery times are estimates with stated conditions, not a guarantee for every order. Australia Post’s estimates are metro-to-metro guides; regional and rural deliveries will likely take longer.

Australia Post says items sent from South Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory must travel interstate before leaving Australia. Add 2 business days for Express items, or 5 business days for Standard and Economy items.

Check Australia Post’s International service updates when approving a placement. An update dated 1 July 2026 reported possible delays for sending to and from the EU’s 27 member states amid new customs requirements; an update dated 11 June 2026 said EU customs and import VAT changes, and duty, tax and fee processing updates for postal services to Canada and the United Kingdom, would apply from 1 July 2026.

Key Australia Post International Shipping Guidelines (as of July 2026)

Delivery time estimate type
Metro-to-metro guide
Regional/rural delivery delay
Likely longer than metro estimate
EU customs delays (from 1 July 2026)
Possible delays for sending to/from EU 27 member states
UK import prohibitions
Aerosols, batteries, alcoholic beverages >24% ABV

Match the two sets of locations

Audience and orderability / Placement decision

Recent audience concentrated in confirmed serviceable locations
Discuss the product and proposed wording.
Audience spans covered and excluded locations
Narrow targeting or state eligibility prominently.
Relevant audience geography is unclear
Request a better period, measure or property breakdown.
Intended readers cannot order the product
Hold that product or placement.

If a placement cannot target by location, assess whether clear eligibility wording and an appropriate destination page can support the customer promise. Do not describe a national offer when only part of the audience can obtain it.

If a publisher’s audience-country report includes the United Kingdom, compare that row with Australia Post’s United Kingdom guide, which includes Northern Ireland. Its postage calculator gives estimated costs and delivery times; count the audience location as covered only after checking the specific product, service and intended destination, and mark it unknown if coverage is not confirmed.

Keep a record of the match

Record the publisher property, placement, audience period and geography beside the product, covered locations, exclusions, delivery wording, date checked and owner. Recheck before a prominent placement and when coverage changes.

After launch, compare orders by delivery destination where that data is available. A click’s apparent location is not a completed sale or a delivery address.
