Reviewing publisher access before choosing a network

Check relevant publisher profiles, invitation routes and programme visibility before treating network access as a reason to sign.

Assess publisher access by the partners you can identify, contact and realistically activate for your programme. A network-wide account total cannot answer that question.

Build a sample of publishers relevant to your product and Australian customers. Inspect what the proposed account actually lets you see and do.

Define the publishers you need

Record each candidate’s site or channel, promotional method, evidence of a relevant Australian audience and reason the product fits. If a profile lacks that information, mark the fit as unknown.

Search for the same named publishers and categories on each platform. Record whether they appear, can be invited and show interest; a directory match is only a lead.

Inspect each discovery route

Awin’s Find partners search accepts partner name, ID, website and promotional type. It handles typos, partial names and synonyms, and a dropdown preview shows matches including name, ID and URL. You can filter results by status and promotional type.

Status icons indicate whether a partner is open to invitations or has a pending application. This helps you check the invitation route from search results.

impact.com offers brands a Partner Marketplace search and prospect workflow. Publishers must join its Brands Marketplace before finding and applying to brands there. An application concerns a specific programme, which may be regional. Check whether your proposed programme will be visible to relevant publishers.

A direct sign-up link can reach people you already know. It does not measure marketplace reach.

Tapfiliate’s Affiliate Marketplace is described as beta. Affiliates can browse programmes and apply, while the advertiser manages approvals and programme terms. Check its actual relevant profiles before assigning value to this route.

Request an inspectable sample

Ask each supplier to show the search terms and filters used for your Australian category, several plausible profiles, the available invitation or application path and what those publishers see about your programme. Record how invitations and replies are tracked.

Check for duplicate profiles and ask suitable publishers directly about audience fit and interest when practical.

Compare verified relevant candidates, contact paths, programme visibility and the work needed to turn a prospect into an active partner. Keep “unknown” separate from “no”. Choose on usable access for your programme, not directory size.
